Global gaze falls on 'Unique' RITCHIE/FGL facility

Forfar, Scotland 13 June 2007 - Forfar Galvanisers Ltd unique environmental systems attracted a world wide audience this week. They hosted from as far away as Brazil, all eager to view Forfar Galvanisers Ltd's leading edge enviroment management systems.

Forfar Galvanisers Ltd (FGL) opened in 2000 and is a joint venture between RITCHIE and McArthur Group.

The visitors were delegates of the European General Galvanizers Association Conference which is being held in Edinburgh this year. The association picked Forfar Galvanisers Ltd as a conference visit because of the processes and methods employed at the company to managing the waste products. The company uses a number of environmental systems that are unique in the Galvanizing industry.

"The visit is a great testament to the vision and effort put into the design of the facility," stated FGL`s manager, Phil Pritchard. "We risked putting in processes that were not required at the time. However we believed that environmental standards would become more important over time and we wanted to ensure we took the future into account."

FORFAR GALVANISERS LTD are located in Forfar, Scotland and are at the forefront of technology in the UK Galvanizing Industry. The plant has an automated handling system which reduces the risk of handling damage and provides a constant flow of material throughout the process. The automated handling system works together with a Swedish designed air emission cleaning system ensuring the environment is not harmed. The physical size of the galvanizing bath is 5.5m long, 1.5m wide and 2.8m deep making it the widest in Scotland. Individual weight of material which can be handled is 1.4 tonnes.

The European General Galvanizers Association (EGGA) is the industry organisation for Europe's general galvanizing sector. They “via the national associations - represent about 600 general galvanizing plants.
